CBFD originated as a neighborhood phone bank team for the Hillary Clinton campaign and has been active since 2016. Our main focus is electoral work. We work closely with other grassroots organizations as well as our sister Indivisible groups through each election cycle.
Our MISSION is to organize volunteers, educate the community, connect candidates with the public and provide leadership in civic engagement. We organize phone banks, canvassing events, candidate forums and other election related events. We provide training for volunteers and mentorship for emerging leaders.
Our VISION is to partner with the local community and national organizations to maintain strong democratic institutions, reform destructive traditions and rebuild the promise of America for future generations.
Our Democracy is resilient but is often subjected to assault by those who would test the waters of autocracy to break down the constitutional safeguards that protect us from tyranny. CBFD is dedicated to defending our democratic process by providing opportunities for communities to obtain information about upcoming elections and candidates for local, state and national elected office.
Although CBFD rarely coordinates protests and rallies, we support electoral and other activities that promote transparency and morality in government. Studies have shown the the most effective way to influence voters is by talking with them. Therefore, our primary activities are phone banking and canvassing.
CBFD was created to use grassroots organizing to bring our government back to the democratic ideal that our founding fathers envisioned for the United States - a system that is fair for the majority and recognizes the needs of the minority.
We are committed to building a fair democracy.
